Privacy policy
Last updated 4 September 2026 · thespanishstorychannel.com
This site is a place to watch free Spanish stories and download free study guides. It collects as little as possible about you, and there is nothing to buy here.
This page covers two separate things. First, the website you are reading — what happens if you give us your email address. Second, the private tool the channel owner uses to upload videos to their own YouTube channel, which Google requires to have a policy of its own.
They never touch each other. Your email address is never sent to Google or to YouTube. The Google account credentials used to upload videos are never available to this website.
Part one · The website
What we collect
Your email address, only if you give it to us. If you sign up for the weekly story, we store your email address and the date you signed up. Nothing else — no name, no age, no location.
Nothing at all if you only watch or read. You can use every page of this site, take the story test, and download every guide, without giving us anything and without signing in.
An anonymous record of test scores. When you finish a story test we store which story it was, how many answers were right, and the date. Nothing that identifies you — no email address, no name, no account. We use it to see which stories are turning out to be hard, so we can write the next ones better.
What we do with your email address
We send you one email a week with the new story, its guide and its song. Occasionally we send a message about the channel itself. That is all we use it for.
You have to confirm before anything is sent. When you sign up we email you once to ask whether it was really you. If you do not click that link, you are not on the list and you will not hear from us again.
We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with advertisers. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom; one click removes you, and we delete the address.
Where all of this is kept
The test scores live in a database run by Supabase, which also holds the guides themselves. Since those rows carry nothing that identifies you, there is nothing there to connect to a person.
Your email address is somewhere else entirely. The list is run by Buttondown, an email newsletter service based in the United States. Your address is stored on their servers so they can send you the weekly email, and it is used for nothing else. If you are writing from the European Union, that means your address leaves the EU when you subscribe.
Cookies and counting visits
This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. It sets no cookie that follows you to other websites, and it runs no analytics product — we do not know who you are or which pages you read.
Like any website, the server that delivers these pages keeps short-lived technical logs — the page requested, the time, and the browser type — which our hosting provider uses to keep the site running. They are not tied to your email address and we do not build a profile from them.
Videos are hosted on YouTube. When you follow a link to the channel, or watch an embedded video, YouTube and Google apply their own policies and may set their own cookies. That is outside our control — their terms are at policies.google.com/privacy.
Children
The stories are suitable for all ages, and families watch them together. We do not knowingly collect email addresses from anyone under 13. If a child has signed up, write to us and we will delete the address.
Your choices
- Ask us what we hold about you, and we will tell you.
- Ask us to correct or delete it, and we will, within 30 days.
- Unsubscribe at any time from the link in any email.
Part two · The tool that uploads the videos
This part has nothing to do with visiting the site. It describes a private automation tool used only by the channel owner, and it is here because Google requires the application to publish a policy. Reading this website never involves any of it.
What data the app accesses
The app uses the YouTube Data API v3, with Google account authorization granted by the channel owner, for one purpose only: to upload videos to the owner’s own YouTube channel and to set their title, description, tags, language and privacy status.
What the app does not do
- The app has no end users and no user accounts. Nobody other than the owner can sign in to it.
- It does not collect, request or store personal data from third parties.
- It does not read, share, sell or transfer Google user data to anyone.
- It does not use Google user data for advertising, profiling or training AI models.
- It has no access to the email addresses collected by this website, and the website has no access to it.
Storage
The Google OAuth token is stored, encrypted, on the owner’s own private server and is used only to call the YouTube API. It is never transmitted anywhere else. Video files and their text are generated by the owner and are deleted from the server after publishing.
Google API Services User Data Policy
This app’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Revoking access
Access can be revoked at any time from myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. If a change is significant, we will say so in the weekly email rather than quietly editing the page.
